MONDAY NIGHT GRAND FINAL IN 2009

After the overwhelming success of the inaugural ANZ Championship Grand Final, Trans Tasman Netball Limited (TTNL) has confirmed the 2009 Grand Final will be held on Monday 27 July.

With Monday night netball becoming a highlight of the sporting week and the success of 2008 as the top two teams went head-to-head in front of a 12,000-strong crowd at Acer Arena, ANZ Championship General Manager Anthony Everard believes the Monday night Grand Final will be a highly anticipated event.

“We are delighted with the success of Monday night netball and how it has been embraced by the fans,” Everard said. “After the exceptional turnout at the 2008 Grand Final, Monday night netball is really taking off and with the Grand Final date confirmed, we are looking forward to a strong crowd at the match and thousands of others tuning into SKY Sports and Network Ten.”

In addition to the announcement of the Grand Final date, the following minor changes have been made to the 2009 ANZ Championship draw.

Monday night matches in Perth will have the following local start times:

Monday 20 April  West Coast Fever v LG Northern Mystics  5.00pm
Monday 4 May - West Coast Fever v NSW Swifts   6.00pm
Monday 1 June - West Coast Fever v Adelaide Thunderbirds   6.00pm
Monday 8 June - West Coast Fever v Ascot Park Hotel Southern Steel  5.00pm
Monday 6 July - West Coast Fever v Queensland Firebirds   6.00pm

The venue for the Melbourne Vixens vs. Central Pulse in Round 14 will now be Hisense Arena instead of the State Netball Hockey Centre.

The 2009 ANZ Championship season action kicks off  on Saturday 4 April 2009  when Southern Steel meets Central Pulse in New Zealand, and Melbourne Vixens take on West Coast Fever in Australia.
