Staff Writers, Tuesday, 8 November 2011.

1. Do you have a nickname?
Maddogg, Brown-eye, Madi

2. What did you want to be when you were growing up?
I changed my mind every week, but a few I remember are; Police woman, hairdresser, flight attendant, check out chick...haha!

3. In 2009 you relocated from Melbourne to Perth to play for the Fever.  What were the reasons behind that decision?
It was a great opportunity and a new challenge. It was a massive move for me at the time, first time living away from home (family) but it has been one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I learnt so much about myself as a player and a person. I'm just so grateful to have had that opportunity.

4. You are also a primary school teacher.  How do you balance your career with playing netball at an elite level?
I have great organisation and time management skills! I think having that balance in your life is the key to success on and off the court.

5. Which International netballer have you always looked up to and why?
Shelley O'Donnell has always been a role model to me from a young age playing Netball. Her tenacious playing style, creativity and ball skills are something I have tried to model my game on.

6. In the ANZ Championship, which team do you love to play against the most, and why?
No doubt the Aussie/NZ rivalry is incredibly motivating but I think the good old VIC Vs NSW battles are always a massive contest and one you hate to lose and LOVE to win!

7. What do you do when youre not training or playing netball i.e. hobbies or interests?
I LOVE the beach, so enjoy going for swims, relaxing with a book or having body surfing competitions. Running, riding, staying fit and family time is always very special. And I also have a mad passion for raw and organic food so if I have some spare time I love creating and trying new recipes out.

8. Apart from your athletic skills, do you have any other secret talents?
I can rock out some pretty good dance moves, and can create some mean raw recipes!

9. What is your favourite home-cooked meal?
Always love my Nan's roast - she gets it spot on every time, and Raw Chocolate Ganache Cake for dessert.

10. Do you have a favourite restaurant?
Yongs Green Food on Brunswick St, Melbourne and The Raw Kitchen in Fremantle, Perth. Their food is AMAZING!

11. What are your favourite movie and TV show?
MOVIE: Step Brothers and Remember the Titans
TV: Entourage and Sons of Anarchy

12. What are you currently listening to on your iPod?
Everything and anything! I grew up listening to many different genres and artists. Mum and dad are in a band and my sister, Kelsey, is an amazing singer (I'm not so good, I'm better at dancing as Kels would say) so we have a huge appreciation for great music. Our Physio Steve Hawkins calls me 'Shazam' because I have such a broad taste in music.

13. What was the last book you read?
The Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins (recommended to me by Bec Bulley and Erin Bell).

14. What can't you live without?
My boyfriend Todd, my dog Ruby and my amazing family!

When people achieve their dreams, overcome adversity and conquer the impossible.

Swim with the whale sharks and Mantarays off Ningaloo Reef, Exmouth. It was a humbling experience!

Anywhere warm.  The ultimate for me is lying on the beach, swimming, sunny weather, great company, awesome food and a good book, I'm easily happy.

18. Do you have a favourite quote / motto / other piece of advice you live by?
I have a quote ring that my sister game me for my birthday that says: "To feel deeply, to enjoy simply, to think freely" - Storm Jameson. I wear it every day to remind myself of everything I'm grateful for, to appreciate all the small things in life and to enjoy every minute of everything I do.
