The Canterbury Tactix will have two of England’s premier players taking the court for the red and black during next year’s ANZ Championship season after they secured the signature of England skipper Jade Clarke.
After spending time with Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic and the Northern Mystics, 29 year-old Clarke brings a wealth of experience, something the Tactix will require after the retirement of captain Maree Bowden who had one of the strongest work ethics of any midcourt player in the ANZ Championship.
The Tactix also re-signed English shooter Jo Harten last month with the side granted two international imports due to the impact of the Christchurch earthquakes on player retention.
Silver Ferns squad member Julianna Naoupu has joined the team after helping the Magic become the first New Zealand franchise to take out an ANZ Championship title.
Along with Silver Fern trialist Keshia Grant in the midcourt, the Tactix side is taking shape well.
Harten and Naoupu will be joined by Silver Fern Anna Thompson and New Zealand under-21 shooter Sophia Fenwick.
Kiley Hikawai will not be available next year because of the impending birth of her second child.
Team squads will be finalised in the coming weeks as they look forward to the 2013 ANZ Championship season.
